Flat Stanley comes to Damon, Texas!

In a nearly unfortunate series of events Flat Stanley arrived just in time to go to work with me at the Walmart in Lake Jackson. We did not take any pictures of this adventure but he somehow got his hands on a Walmart In Store Credit Gift Card which he took with him onto his next destination. Barrett and Xander were both asleep when we got home from work but Stanley met Bear in the morning and they were INSTANT friends!
Barrett had to make sure Stanley got into the picture!

Then we were off on a walk around town!

There was a lot of walking, but Stanley rode with Barrett in the stroller!

They had Candy at the post office!

Egg hunting at the school in Damon. It was the city wide egg hunt!

Barrett wouldn't let Stanley out of his site!

but Stanley was wore out and had to take a breather in the stroller while ensuring the safety of the eggs!

Then some refreshments and socialization.

And a picture of all the participants.

More walking.

Barrett claimed Stanley was tired and needed to ride in the stroller while he pushed.

Then more riding for Stanley and Barrett.

Above is the only evidence of the fun had while Mom (Karla) was off at work...a bit disturbing!

And what Mom saw when she got home from work.

Excited to go to Church on Easter Sunday!

Grace Community Fellowship Needville Texas

Barrett is ready for a big day at church!

Stanley got to participate in our weekly donut ritual before Sunday School.

Looks like he shared Xander's Coke.

attempt at a family picture....fail.

Stanley hung out with the big kids for a while guarding the door to the Easter Egg patch!

The little ones were sooo excited about Easter Egg Hunt starting soon!

From Barrett's perspective

He says it's HIS Stanley

Stepped right over an egg in the excitement!

They got one!

There was a lot of competition!

Every kid was allowed 10 eggs.

So we went inside to count them!

Stanley held them while we counted together

Then he got a piggy back ride on Bear's Shoulders.

Then we settled into the church for Praise and Worship!!

Christy helped Stanley tickle Barrett's neck.

And it was all over before we knew it!

Again mom (Karla) had to go to work at Walmart right after church and the kids were left to document their time with Stanley. Unfortunately the only pictures are of bedtime...we have a secret window of time where they must have had great adventures but no pictures of the activities!

Again sleeping snuggled in with Barrett.

Finally this morning we knew we had to send Stanley on so we took another picture of him so we would never forget his time here.

A quick stop at the WIC office to do a little play time and writing and off he went to the post office to see the next family on the list!

We miss you already Stanley!!

Flat Stan's First Stop: Alabama!

Flat Stanley arrived at the Sexton house on Wednesday, April 13, 2011.  CJ has been waiting to meet him since mommy mentioned he might be visiting!  We were totally shocked and absolutely thrilled to find out the MM08 Stan was a monkey!

The first thing CJ and her brother, Barrett, did was to show him around.

He loved the trampoline!  They jumped for what seemed like hours!
Stan quickly found the rings on the swingset.  Who doesn't like monkeying around on the rings?
Stan helped us get our eggs for the day.  He was a little afraid of the chickens so CJ kept him safe.
Everyone knows monkeys belong in trees!
I think he thought life here was pretty good!
Thursday morning, Stan decided to visit Bear's school.  He rode the bus stowed away in his backpack.  Stan DID NOT like it in there because, according to Bear's teacher, there was an old Hardee's biscuit and an old mixed berry muffin sharing the space.  Mrs. Smith said the backpack smelled up the whole classroom that day.  Poor Stanley!  And poor mama!  Guess who had to clean the backpack that night?

Anyway, the most exciting part of the day was when Stan got to read his book to the class.

He loved Bear's school so much he decided to visit again on Friday.  Mom was substitute teaching for Mrs. Smith that day so he rode in the comfort of the back seat of mommy's car that morning.

Bear's school uses the accelerated reading program where they read books and take tests on them; setting new goals and hopefully meeting them along the way.  Stan is so super smart that he took several reading tests and obtained a reading award.  He had the opportunity to meet the principal, who awarded him with a pencil and the sticker he should be wearing when he meets you for the first time.

On Saturday, Barrett and his dad went to Auburn, Alabama to check out the Auburn A Day Game, which is the Tigers' Spring Practice Scrimmage Game.  Stan was able to meet Aubie, Auburn's mascot.  Who knew tigers liked monkeys?
Monday was our last full day with Flat Stan.  Unfortunately, mom had to work at the school that day so he didn't get to hang out with CJ.  But, they did have a mini sleepover Monday night.  She said his prayers, sang to him, and told him stories until they both finally fell asleep.

All in all, I think Stan had a nice visit to Alabama.

We can't wait to read where all he'll be visiting next!  See ya next time Flat Stanley!
