Flat Stan's First Stop: Alabama!

Flat Stanley arrived at the Sexton house on Wednesday, April 13, 2011.  CJ has been waiting to meet him since mommy mentioned he might be visiting!  We were totally shocked and absolutely thrilled to find out the MM08 Stan was a monkey!

The first thing CJ and her brother, Barrett, did was to show him around.

He loved the trampoline!  They jumped for what seemed like hours!
Stan quickly found the rings on the swingset.  Who doesn't like monkeying around on the rings?
Stan helped us get our eggs for the day.  He was a little afraid of the chickens so CJ kept him safe.
Everyone knows monkeys belong in trees!
I think he thought life here was pretty good!
Thursday morning, Stan decided to visit Bear's school.  He rode the bus stowed away in his backpack.  Stan DID NOT like it in there because, according to Bear's teacher, there was an old Hardee's biscuit and an old mixed berry muffin sharing the space.  Mrs. Smith said the backpack smelled up the whole classroom that day.  Poor Stanley!  And poor mama!  Guess who had to clean the backpack that night?

Anyway, the most exciting part of the day was when Stan got to read his book to the class.

He loved Bear's school so much he decided to visit again on Friday.  Mom was substitute teaching for Mrs. Smith that day so he rode in the comfort of the back seat of mommy's car that morning.

Bear's school uses the accelerated reading program where they read books and take tests on them; setting new goals and hopefully meeting them along the way.  Stan is so super smart that he took several reading tests and obtained a reading award.  He had the opportunity to meet the principal, who awarded him with a pencil and the sticker he should be wearing when he meets you for the first time.

On Saturday, Barrett and his dad went to Auburn, Alabama to check out the Auburn A Day Game, which is the Tigers' Spring Practice Scrimmage Game.  Stan was able to meet Aubie, Auburn's mascot.  Who knew tigers liked monkeys?
Monday was our last full day with Flat Stan.  Unfortunately, mom had to work at the school that day so he didn't get to hang out with CJ.  But, they did have a mini sleepover Monday night.  She said his prayers, sang to him, and told him stories until they both finally fell asleep.

All in all, I think Stan had a nice visit to Alabama.

We can't wait to read where all he'll be visiting next!  See ya next time Flat Stanley!
